The craft beer industry has picked up speed over the past few years. As of 2015, the craft beer category holds a 12.2% share of the overall beer market. Recently our city has seen an influx of craft beer breweries, restaurants and bars that have quickly made names for themselves as some of the best places to grab a cold one in the city.
Freetail
We love this company not only for its great tasting beers, but also because it’s owned by native San Antonians! Founded in 2006, Freetail got its name after founder As Scott Metzger heard a radio segment announcing that the Mexican Free-tailed Bat would be the Official Flying Mammal of Texas. Pretty interesting, right?
Although not a restaurant, Freetail does have a tasting room you can visit that is open for a period of time each day. Check their website for hours and address.
Big Hops
With three different locations in San Antonio, Big Hops has got beer lovers all over the city covered. They have a large selection of craft beers listed on your website so you can get your mouth watering before you head over. Big Hops always has events going on at their three locations so make sure you follow their social media pages to stay in the know.
Yardhouse
Yardhouse contains over 100 tap handles of the best American craft beers and imports, as well as over 100 menu items to choose from! You’re sure to find a beer that suits your tastebuds, so no excuses for not going. They also have huge TVs all around the inside and outside patio- perfect for watching sporting events with friends and family.
Brass Tap
This is one of the newest restaurants to open in The Rim Shopping Center. Brass Tap has an extensive craft beer collection, and a very interactive website that helps you find a beer that you’ll love before walking in! Like Big Hops, Brass Tap has tons of activities and events going on daily, so make sure you check their website for upcoming events.
Please enjoy and drink responsibly.
